Czech Society for Mechanics

under auspices of the

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague

announces holding of the

Workshop on Computational Fatigue Analysis 2022
-
Vibration Fatigue Analysis

Karlovo náměstí 13, Prague 2 - Nové Město, Czech Republic

November 14-16, 2022

In the months the COVID-19 just started to disrupt the global economy, the selection of the topic of the prepared WCFA workshop was clearly biased by the interest of prospective attendants to rerun the topic of Vibration Fatigue Analysis, which was so successfully introduced to the audience by Neil Bishop in 2016. Once COVID and the fears of it cancelled most of prepared conferences or workshops worldwide, also the organizing committee of WCFA abandoned this plan.

Despite of the fact that the situation is far from settled, the new WCFA volume was prepared after two void years and the same topic selection pertains. The first day of the workshop covers the basics of fatigue analysis. This traditional part led by CTU lecturers allows the newcomers to tune into the fatigue topic. In order to provide the attendants a new perspective to the vibration fatigue, the choice of lecturers is completely different from 2016 as regards the second and third days focusing on the vibration fatigue topic - see their list here. The intention is to separate the topic into four basic blocks, this time focusing also more on the dynamic FE-analysis, and the whole computational line to make it more straightforward for implementing into the industrial practice. Details of the program can be found in the Program section.

Course Options

No prior knowledge on fatigue analysis is needed, if also the first day of the workshop is attended. The basic principles of the common fatigue damage estimation are described in the first day, to help the complete freshmen to get on board. The content lectured by five renowned researchers in vibration fatigue is provided in next two days. To better fit to needs of participants and to their level of fatigue knowledge, several variants of the course are provided therefore:

Monday
November 14, 2022
M. Růžička, J. Papuga, M. Nesládek: Introduction to Fatigue V1 V3
Tuesday
November 15, 2022
J. Slavič: Signal Processing
D. Benasciutti: Uniaxial Vibration Fatigue Analysis
V2
Wednesday
November 16, 2022
F. Cianetti & M. Palmieri: Introduction to Dynamic Analysis
A. Nieslony: Multiaxial Vibration Fatigue Analysis

More detailed information about the programme can be found in the section Program.

Used Language

English language is the official language of the lectures.

Conference Location

The meeting will be held at the building of the Czech Technical University in Prague on Karlovo náměstí (the same as in last four WCFA volumes). It can be convenietly accessed by a subway, because one of its exits on Karlovo náměstí station is directly at the edge of this building. You can access the map here. The room No. 215 in the second floor of the main building will host the workshop.

Attendance Fee

The fee is set in various versions to cover all potential needs of participants. The Early Bird rate is available to those who will pay before September 26, 2022, while Regular rate is for all participants who settle their payment afterwards. Members of the Czech Society for Mechanics pay 10% less from any of the aforementioned prices.

The COVID era taught us to run many activities online. In contrast to previous WCFA volumes, the attendance will be made possible both on-site and on-line. In addition to those two options, the third one (access to the recorded lectures anytime after the workshop) is currently evaluated.

For the on-site version of the attendance, conference fee includes access to the lectures, printouts of the presentations, an attendance certificate, meals and drinks during lunches and coffee breaks. The accommodation costs are not included in it. The on-line version is delivered with the possibility to see the lectures in real time on-line, and also to interact during the moments the attendants are proposed to do so. Also here the attendance certificate will be delivered by the post.

Details concerning the conditions and the payment of the attendance fee are presented in the Payment section of the conference website.

Application

You can register to the meeting in the Application section.
